Mission

The Robert Sinclair Davidson Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to providing help to young families where a family member is experiencing life-limiting or terminal illness.

Our focus is on providing financial support and/or equipment to make life more tolerable during what is inevitably a very challenging and traumatic time for the whole family.

Who We Are

Founded in 2016, The Robert Sinclair Davidson Foundation charity is run solely by volunteers.  Every penny we raise is available to our deserving families.  We take nothing in the way of expenses.

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for of young families who are coping with the life limiting or terminal illness of a loved one.

Over the years we have helped families in a number of different ways.  These are just a few examples where we have helped when a family has been struck with devastating illnesses such as Motor Neurone Disease, Cancer or Huntington’s Disease to name just a few of the conditions that have caused people to turn to us and where we have been only too happy to help;

  • Funding of nursery fees so that a young child who is not eligible for state nursery funding can make little friends and enjoy the stimulation that nursery has to offer while also offering his parents respite in coping with a young child all day on top of the immense challenges caused by motor neurone disease.

  • Funding of utility bills where serious illness has resulted in a major drop in income from which there has been no time to readjust.

  • Funding to cover the cost of stair lifts where a young parent has lost the ability to negotiate the stairs in order to use the bathroom or to tuck up his/her young child in bed.

  • Funding self cleaning toilets, wet rooms or shower pods to give some dignity to people who would otherwise have to rely on others for their personal hygiene.

  • Funding for wheel chairs and scooters to give a little independence and to enable the whole family to enjoy time out of the house.

  • Funding of some palliative therapy not available on the NHS

  • Funding of specialist furniture like risers, recliners and specialist beds

We work closely with occupational therapists, hospices, hospitals and care services many of whom know our reputation and refer families to us.
